Dr. Momtchil Pojarliev, CFA, is a Director and Senior Portfolio Manager for Hathersage.
Momtchil joins Hathersage with a decade of experience managing substantial FX-only portfolios. He is broadly acknowledged within the international investment community as an expert in the areas of currency investment and portfolio management. From April 2007 to August 2009, Momtchil was the Head of Currencies at Hermes Investment Management, the investment arm for the BT Pension Scheme and the largest company pension scheme in the United Kingdom.
Prior to joining Hermes, Momtchil was Senior FX Portfolio Manager at Pictet & Cie in Geneva, one of Switzerland’s largest private banks, from May 2005 until March 2007. Prior to joining Pictet, he was Senior FX Portfolio Manager at Invesco in Frankfurt and in London, from April 2001 until April 2005.
In addition, Momtchil has consulted to various asset management firms, including Pimco and Goldman Sachs Asset Management, in the area of currency return analytics.
Dr. Momtchil Pojarliev received a PhD in Financial Econometrics with honors from the University of Basel and an MSs in Finance from the Vienna University of Economics and Business.
Momtchil has lectured extensively on various topics in finance, including active portfolio management. He has published more than twenty research articles in professional journals including the Financial Analysts Journal and the Journal of Alternative Investments.
Momtchil has earned the Chartered Financial Analyst professional degree and is a member of the American Finance Association, the CFA Institute and the Swiss Society for Financial Market Research.
